Time?
Everyone knows that if you do not have time to do something it will not get done properly, if at all. The same with learning a language and specifically Arabic, if you do not invest the time you will not get far. So whether you want to learn Colloquial, MSA or Classical Arabic you need to plan the time you are willing to give to studying this language. Will it be a one off one year course or are you in it for life?
Aim?
What do you want to be able to do.....a GCSE/A'Level qualification or reading Quran? Is it just for a few words or do you want to give lectures, using sprinklings of Arabic? Is it just for reading or do you want to fill in forms and write articles? Will it be for research, holiday visits, business, translation or something else?
Pace?
If you are only investing in the Arabic 1 hour a week you will be going at a very slow pace. See if you can find the time to study it daily, even if it is only a minimum of 1 hour daily. You may have to make some sacrifices to be able to do this, but if you are disciplined or just simply motivated then its achievable.
